Format’s designers understand that a well designed interface is a true balance between form and function.

INTERACTION DESIGN_

Information organization techniques are applied to create intuitive interface systems and delineate page structure based upon usability and hierarchical value. The goal is to optimize every point of user interaction, creating a clear road map for the visual design. This process melds business strategy, content and technological demands into interface requirements, enabling users to quickly and efficiently accomplish tasks such as finding relevant content, purchasing items or completing complex forms.

IDENTITY AND VISUAL DESIGN_

The heart of every project is reflected in its unique look and feel. We take a brand centric approach to our visual design process. The work evolves from a clear understanding of a client's objectives and close consideration of identity, positioning and audience. From this process, multiple approaches of layout structure, navigation, typography, imagery, and color are explored towards a finalized design solution.

DESIGN RESEARCH AND EVALUATION_

Usability and navigational flow are verified to ensure alignment with a client's objectives and success metrics. Evaluations are intended for any point within the project process, whether feedback and verification is needed at the beginning stages of project planning, during the visual design process or after the project has been completed.

DESIGN MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING_

The final interface design is not the sole focus of our design work. The culmination of the finalized design is a set of visual rules and module templates that can be maintained and updated over time. We provide clients with staff training, development of design guidelines and management of internal production processes based on a methodology that was developed through extensive site design and implementation experience.

HEURISTIC OR USABILITY TESTING_

Heuristic evaluation involves a small number of expert evaluators that examine a group of interface screens for their compliance with recognized usability principles. An alternative approach is phased usability testing which employs a test lab, scripting and independent research participants.
